Turbofan Engine Teardown Demo
An interactive 3D turbofan engine built with Three.js that you can take apart in the browser. Each stage is labeled as it runs: intake, compression, combustion, and exhaust. The fan pulls in a huge volume of air, most of which bypasses the core to produce most of the thrust. The compressor stages squeeze the air roughly 40 times and heat it. Fuel burns hotter than the melting point of turbine metal, and the blades survive on cooling air and heat-resistant coatings. Two concentric shafts spin at different speeds. The engine then explodes outward into its individual stages. A good fit for aviation explainers and short engineering-principle videos.
